ANDERSON – Lionel Theodore Dewar Anderson of Brooks, passed away peacefully in Brooks, on Saturday, July 12th, 2003 at the age of 97 years. Born in Elgin, Manitoba on January 8th, 1906 he received all his education there and later worked for his father at Anderson Mercantile. Lionel moved to Fairfax, Manitoba in 1925 where he managed and later owned the Fairfax General Store, until retiring in 1974. He married Dorothy (Dolly) Lee on July 10th, 1934 in Elgin. After retirement they eventually moved to Victoria and Edmonton. Following the death of his beloved wife, Lionel moved to Brooks in 1996, where he had resided since. Lionel loved his family, music and round dancing and was also a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge. He was predeceased by his wife Dolly on November 10th, 1994, 3 brothers, Allan, Vic and Murray and sister Mary Dunfield. Lionel is survived by his loving family, son Mac and his wife Paulette of Brooks and daughter Carol Wilson and her husband Bob of Turks and Caicos; 4 grandchildren Tim Wilson, Heather (Jeff) Strosher, Jay (Lisa) Duke, and Kajsa Duke and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 18th from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. Bryan Frank officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Lionel’s grandchildren.
