    ALLEN, Alma Janet
    1927 – 2014

Alma Janet Allen (Both) (Meyer) passed away peacefully October 2014 in Calgary, AB at the age of 87 years.
Alma was born and raised in the surrounding area of Govan, Saskatchewan. She was blessed with grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins who were involved in her childhood. She attended school in Dunkeld, Saskatchewan and upon graduating she began her teaching career.
She always spoke fondly of the four decades she taught within Alberta and Saskatchewan, and the many students she encouraged to succeed. She would often laugh and tell stories of the many times she found herself teaching grades 1 to 12 in one room country schools. Upon choosing to settle her family in Alberta she continued teaching in Brooks and surrounding communities, eventually moving to Calgary where she continued her career for another 12 years. Alma, then, returned to Tilley, AB and retired in 1983. Her retirement allowed her to devote much more time to her family and Bible study. Living a life of faith and walking the Lord’s path were of utmost importance to her.
She will be forever missed by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her daughters Doreen Phillips and Brenda Oman; grandchildren Tracey Wilson, Jeanine Van Slyke, Thadeus, Michael, Hayley and Jillian Oman; great-grandchildren Natisha, Kylie, Jayden, Kolby, Taegan, Liam, Jade, and Cruz; nieces Gail Oliver and family of Mossomin, SK, and Janice Zver and family of Regina, SK; nephew Jim Coathup of Regina; and sister-in -law Dini Allen of Regina.
Alma was predeceased by her father Melville Allen and mother Theresa Cardiff of Govan, Saskatchewan; as well as brother Raymond Allen and sister Beryl Coathup of Regina, Saskatchewan.
