He is predeceased by his young son Richard Allen, and his parents Ted and Joan Wald. He is survived by his loving wife JoAnn, his children Taylor and Jamie (Nick), sisters Rosalie (Danny) Wald and Donna (Duncan) Drader, nieces and nephews, and many extended family members that loved him like a son, brother and uncle. Boomer spent his early school years in the Brownvale and Grimshaw areas. He worked for various oilfield construction companies up north and later attended NAIT taking a pre-technology course. He was an avid hockey player, playing for the Grimshaw Huskies and later, rec teams in Brooks. Boomer moved to Brooks in 1986 to work for his Mom and Dad at the Shell Bulk Plant, which he later took over. In 1999, he again worked in the Oilfield construction  industry in Alberta and Saskatchewan. After he became ill and underwent treatment, he began working for the City of Brooks as an equipment operator.
