County council has proposed an amendment to its Land Use bylaw to include a policy for airports and the surrounding land.
While the county worked with the Town of Bassano to create a direct control district for their airport, it was believed that policy could also benefit the Brooks Regional Airport and any future airport development so all development around airports is similar.
The policy does include building restriction zones in the vicinity of the airport, however, it was noted that there is a residence in the vicinity of the Bassano Airport.
If a home was built before the land use bylaw and there is an application for an addition. The amendment allows the Municipal Planning Commission to consider the merits of the application without having to complete a land use amendment.
