The Brooks chapter of Special Olympics Canada is seeking members and volunteers.
Special Olympics Canada serves the needs of people of all ages and levels of ability, from the individual who will stay active for life to the athlete who will advance and compete at national and international competitions.
For individuals with an intellectual disability, Special Olympics may be the only place where they have an opportunity to engage in their communities and to develop leadership and life skills as well as form lifelong friendships.
For many it is a gateway to confidence, empowerment, competence, and acceptance.
Brooks offers bowling and swimming between September and May and baseball and soccer in June and July.
The organization also hosts social gatherings, such the Christmas dinner and dance and summer potluck in the park.
