The illuminated CPKC Holiday Train will be in Tilley and Brooks on Dec. 8 with entertainers and Santa Claus.
In its 26th year of operations the Holiday Train continues to spread joy while raising money, food and awareness for people struggling with food insecurity.
Each year the company donates money to local food banks and encourages the public to do the same.
Last year’s event raised a record $1.8 million and collected more than 72,574 kilograms (160,000 lbs.) of food across both the US and Canadian runs.
The train will stop in Tilley at 5:30 p.m. with performances from musicians Tyler Shaw and Shawnee Kish.
It will depart at 6 p.m. and ride the rails to Brooks where it will arrive at 6:40 p.m. Performances in Brooks will be American Authors and KT Tunstall.
The train will depart at 7:10 p.m. and head to Gleichen.
“We are pleased to again send this magical train on a four-week trip across our network spreading holiday joy as we collect food and raise money to fight food insecurity. We look forward to again seeing all the smiles and cheers from people young and old coming together in the spirit of giving,” said CPKC president and CEO Keith Creel.
