On Nov. 18, 2024, at approximately 10:24 a.m., Bassano, Brooks and Gleichen RCMP were dispatched to a multi vehicle collision involving a pick-up truck and numerous commercial semi-trucks. The collision occurred in the west bound lanes of Highway 1 near Cluny. Upon arrival, RCMP determined that the driver and lone occupant of the pick-up, a 51-year-old male resident of Redcliff, Alta., was deceased. There were no injuries to other parties involved in the collision.
Traffic was disrupted for over six hours while police investigated and semis were towed.
Police reported that poor road conditions are considered to have been a factor in the collision.
RCMP send condolences to family and friends of the deceased.
