The Medicine Hat Pee Wee Football Association’s Brooks Badgers atom/pee wee team collected the league cup last week after defeating the Medicine Hat Riders 31-6.
Touchdowns were completed by Lars Maxwell-Lyster with over 100-yards rushing as well as Josh Alimi and Caden Festa.
Westyn Hofmann had two interceptions in the final as well as numerous tackles, Michael Calpas, Kaine Metheral with Kort Helland were a major factor on offensive line in the 95 points the team put up in the final three games of the season.
“Kaiden Clarke led the team as quarterback all year as a force and a true leader,” said head coach Jerrod Maxwell-Lyster.
He added that Dallas Alberts and Kaiden Clarke were a menace on defensive line, Josh Alimi showed that he can tackle and not just run fast.
Kingston Bolt made “highlight reel” catches all year and was tough on defense.
Blake Jennings covered receivers well all season and was also a positive leader.
There was a lot of depth on the team which will bode well not only for players who will run with the Roadrunners next year but also Grade 6 players who will continue as Badgers.
Players who will advance to the Roadrunners next year include Alberts, Bolt, Isaac Cachen, Calpas, Clarke, Festa, Helland, Hofmann Jennings, Metheral and Maxwell-Lyster.
