It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gordon Leroy Gallup, a beloved resident of Rosemary, Alberta. Gordon departed from this world on Friday, July 14th, 2023, at the age of 89 years. After bravely facing a battle with Leukemia for several years, Gordon passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Gordon was born on February 1st, 1934 in the town of Bassano, Alberta, to his parents Leroy Amos Gallup and Erma Lillian Gallup. From an early age, he displayed a strong work ethic, immersing himself in the responsibilities of caring for livestock on local farms. It was during these formative years that Gordon learned the true value of exchanging an honest day’s labor for a fair day’s wages. Throughout his life, Gordon’s unwavering dedication and hard work extended to various fields, including construction, welding, seismic work, and even serving as a skilled farrier. His adventures took him across Canada and as far as the Arctic Circle. However, destiny led him back to the cherished community of Rosemary, where he settled with his family and embraced the responsibility of managing the family farm. Gordon’s entrepreneurial spirit led him on diverse paths, including operating a successful dairy farm, raising Boar goats, and ultimately establishing his own thriving oilfield business, Gallup Vac Services. His tenacity and unwavering commitment ensured the success of each endeavor he pursued. While Gordon’s professional accomplishments were impressive, his true devotion lay in his family, faith, and community. He shared countless adventures and created cherished memories with his loved ones, whether it was playing games, team roping, showing horses, equestrian riding, motocross, or indulging in the thrill of mud bogging. Gordon’s life was deeply rooted in the teachings of the Mormon Church, and he took great pride in his missionary work as a young man in New Zealand. His continued involvement with the congregation in Rosemary exemplified his unwavering commitment to his faith. His faith provided him with guidance and strength throughout his journey, and he leaves behind a legacy of devotion and kindness that will forever inspire those who knew him. Gordon Gallup was also a pillar of compassion and goodwill, demonstrating his love for humanity by embodying the principles of “loving thy neighbor as thyself.” His genuine care for others built lasting relationships within the tight-knit farming community that he held so dear. As we mourn the loss of Gordon Leroy Gallup, let us celebrate the extraordinary life he lived. The family invites you to his Funeral Services on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 2:00 PM from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rosemary.
