HIEBERT – Bradley “Brad” Keith Joseph Hiebert passed away in the loving embrace of his beloved, Valerie on June 11, 2023 at the age of 70. He will be missed beyond measure by his family but we take comfort in knowing his suffering is over and he is reunited with his son, Bradley whom he missed dearly.
Bradley was born on January 5, 1953 to proud parents, George and Olive Hiebert in Edmonton, Alberta. He spent many happy summers with his siblings in Smoky Lake, his mother’s birth place, connecting to his extended family. His family moved to Brooks in the late 1950’s, where Brad has resided ever since. In his teen years, Brad was in a band called “The Midas Touch”, he loved fast cars and loud motorbikes. Brad owned and operated Brooks Taxi for over 45 years before illness forced him to retire. He thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to socialize and serve the community he grew up in. He took great pride in providing excellent service, always going above and beyond for his customers. He met the love of his life, Valerie, and they were married in 1979. They had three children together, Jacqueline, Karri Ann, and Bradley, in addition to his daughter Lorrie from his first marriage. Family was everything to him and he was always planning the next adventure and working hard to make it happen.
There was never a dull moment with Brad. He always found a way to incorporate his unique humour into any situation. He was hard working, genuine and generous to a fault. He loved spending time in Smoky Lake with his Uncle Donnie, and cruising around with David in later years. Brad was a devoted son, never hesitating to drop everything to head over and help his Mom when she needed something through the years. He was delighted when his grandchildren came along. He spent many hours babysitting, taking them for treats and teaching them how to pull pranks! In turn his grandchildren adored his fun loving ways. He remained a child at heart, always.
Brad was predeceased by his parents, Olive and George Hiebert, his favorite Uncle, Donnie Jarema and most recently his precious son, Bradley.
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife, Valerie, his daughters, Jacqueline Gartshore (Mark), Karri Daoust (Matt), and Lorrie, as well as grandchildren Noah, Elliot, Justin, Abby & Zach. He is also survived by his siblings Rob, Donnie (Tammy) and Karen Grove (Gordon) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Val and Karri’s steadfast devotion these last few years to caring for him, knowing how badly he wished to remain in his home was truly a gift. The family would like to thank Thea Trottier from Brooks Home Care for her tireless support and advocacy which allowed Brad to remain in his home. Without her efforts it would not have been possible to honor his wishes.
Please join us to celebrate his life, Funeral Services will be held at the Brooks Evangelical Free Church on June 22 at 2:00pm with Pastor Garth Everett officiating.
