Christianson – Helen Christianson, beloved wife of the late Edvin Christianson, passed away peacefully in Brooks, Alberta on Sunday April 2, 2023 at the age of 94 years. She was born on September 25, 1928 in Swalwell, Alberta to William and Matilda Berreth and was the middle child in a family of 6 children. Raised near Beiseker, she met and married Albert Heine in April 1950 and started farming in the Dalroy/Lyalta area, where they raised 2 children: Charlene Prior (Steve) and Lloyd Heine (Denise). Following Albert’s death in 1974, Helen married Edvin Christianson in April 1978 and moved to Pollockville, Alberta, where they shared their life together on the farm with Ed’s two children: Lori Griffith and Wade Christianson (Jane). Helen and Ed moved to Brooks in January 2005. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two brothers: Ray Berreth (Elsie) and Floyd Berreth (Sharon), numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her parents, three sisters and a stepbrother. Her life was filled with laughter, family and friends. She quickly made new and life-long friends in Pollockville, thoroughly enjoyed her community and never missed an opportunity to play cards, curl, dance, travel to every rodeo or get involved with local events. Friendships were a valued part of her life and she treasured each one to the fullest. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Heritage Inn and Convention Centre in Brooks on Monday April 24, 2023 at 2:00 PM. A private family internment to take place at a later date. The family wishes to send heartfelt thanks to the medical team at the Brooks Health Centre for the exceptional care and concern shown to Helen. In memory of Helen’s life and in lieu of flowers if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly in Helen’s name to Stars, 1441 Aviation Park NE, Box 570 Calgary Alberta T2E 8M7, or Halo Air Ambulance 12 Viscount Ave SW, Medicine Hat, Alta T1A 5G4.
