Braul – Mom was born July 18, 1927, in Langham, SK to Jacob and Maria Krause, and later moved to Rosemary, AB. She was the second of five children. She had an older brother Jake and three younger sisters – Lena, Selma, and Linda. Mom was baptized on confession of her faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior in Rosemary. She attended the Mennonite Bible Institute in Didsbury, and married Aron Klassen of Rosemary on October 18, 1950. They moved to Gem shortly afterwards to a small piece of land covered with rocks, bush, and alkali. Four kids came along quickly to make a family. We were raised on the food they could grow with lots for gardening, butchering, canning, and freezing. Mom served in many capacities within the church, from teaching VBS and Sunday school to singing in the choir and serving in the ladies’ aid. In her retirement years she sewed many patchwork blankets for MCC. The greatest challenge Mom faced was the loss of dad, her partner, and the love of her life. It shook her deeply, and left her rather lost, but her faith held strong, and she endured the struggle as women of faith do. Two years later she married John Braul and started a new chapter in her life. John introduced Mom to his group of friends, and they would meet weekly in each other’s homes for games and fellowship. These friends were a great support to Mom when after nearly 20 years together, Mom again walked through losing her partner and love. Mom leaves a family that includes her sister Linda Krause. Four children: Rudy (Susan) Klassen and their children Barbara (Robert) Bradshaw, Julie Klassen with daughter Kaylee; Fred (Nancy) Klassen and their children Greg (Rose) Klassen with their children Lucas (Jaime), Mia and Robin; Heather (Brent) Bews with their children Leif, Ella, and Addie; Dwayne (Teresa) Klassen with their children Tailor, Brianne, and Miranda. Carol (Neil) Krahn and their children Daniel Krahn, Christopher (Amanda) Krahn with their children Winston and Benjamin; Shannon (Andrew) Hundeby. Roger (Sherry) Klassen and their children Bradley, Michelle and Allison. Mom also leaves the family she became part of when she married John Braul: Lois (Gaylord) Mierau and their children Brendan (Lindsay) Mierau with children Alice and Lucy; Chantel Mierau; Larry (Janelle) Braul with daughter Lindsay Braul; Elma (Don) Plett with their children Larissa (David) Hill, Darren (Nikki) Plett; Alden (Aida) Braul with their children Marcos and Rebeca Braul Vidal. Mom also leaves a host of nieces and nephews who loved her. We rejoice that mom is free of the struggles of this earth, but we will miss her dearly. A Family Service was held.
