Christiansen – Esther May Christiansen beloved wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, and aunt passed away on Monday, Dec. 26 at the age of 95 years.  She was born to Einar and Marie Wold on Dec. 12 ,1927 in Sexsmith, AB., where she was the eldest of four children.  She spent her childhood years on the farm, received her schooling in La Glace and Grande Prairie.  After high school, she went on to Bible School in Camrose, where she met her future husband Erland Johannes Christiansen.  They were married on April 26, 1950, and they partnered together on the farm in Tilley for 66 years.  One task that she helped with but did not really enjoy was driving the three-ton grain truck in the fall.  She was happy to be replaced when sons or grandsons were old enough to help.  Esther loved children and raised two sons and a daughter.  She was active in her church singing in the choir, teaching and always ready to help others.  She enjoyed crocheting making numerous tablecloths and doilies.  She loved gardening and flowers, especially flowers, they brought her great joy.  She loved beauty often going out to see the sunrise or sunset.  Esther was very hospitable, ready to welcome people into their home, where the coffee pot was always on.  She and Erland loved travel, they had made many trips together over the years and Hawaii was surely a favourite, coming home with many great photos (covering a wall in photo albums).  Esther and Erland were married for 72 years, having many wonderful memories together.  You could see her face light up when Erland came to visit her in the hospital.  We were grateful that they were able to live together for a few days at Sunrise Gardens.  Esther is survived by Erland, her husband; son Dale (Lynn); daughter Sharon (Bob deceased 2022) and son Rick (Kathie); seven grandchildren, Michael, Shannon (Dallas), Kathy, Robert (Katie), Karla (Justin), Matthew and Katelyn; thirteen great grandchildren, Taylor (Michael), Jordyn, Alexander, Kelli (Nick), Ethan, Cameron, Masyn, Amelia, Kacey, Jennifer, Charles, Harrison and Liam; sisters, Irma and Marion and numerous nieces and nephews.  Esther was selfless, generous, and hospitable.  She loved well and was loved.  We will miss her very much.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4 at 2:00 PM from the Brooks Alliance Church.  Rev. Dave Bradford officiating.  Interment at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Tilley.
