Hauck – Sharon Hauck of Brooks, beloved wife of Murray Hauck, passed away in Brooks on Monday, December 5, 2022 at the age of 66 years. Sharon was born in Medicine Hat on October 29, 1956 to William and Edna Hirsekorn. She was one of 6 children in the family who grew up in Redcliff, Alberta. Sharon completed high school at Medicine Hat High, before moving to Calgary. In 1976, she came to Brooks for a visit, where she met and eventually married her love Murray on August 19, 1978. They made their home in Brooks, where they raised 3 children- Ryan, Riley and Shelby. Sharon worked at Bow River Pipelines for a few years, worked in the auto industry for 20 years before finishing her career at Tred Appliance. In retirement, Sharon enjoyed volunteering with the Brooks Bandits hockey team; following them coast to coast and cheering the team on to 3 National Championships. Sharon’s favourite place to spend her summers was with Murray and family at her special getaway in the Crowsnest Pass. Soaking up the sun with her feet in the mountain river while watching family run and swim always brought the biggest smile to her face. “Sister’s weekend” was a special time, where Sharon and her sisters gathered in Brooks, sharing laughs and memories while making nostalgic family meals. The love of travel and the beach brought her and Murray back to Hawaii, across the ocean to Europe and down to Florida. She particularly enjoyed the trips to Arizona, where golfing in the morning, and evenings by the pool were so relaxing. Sharon enjoyed swimming, which she participated in from a young age, as well as football and was an avid Stampeder’s fan. More than anything, Sharon was a devoted parent who gladly spent every weekend and most weeknights travelling to her children’s various sporting events. No matter the weather or other circumstances, you could always count on seeing Sharon in the stands cheering on her children. She was best remembered as “Gigi” or “Grandma” to her 3 grandchildren, Jaida, Finleigh and Nolan. Sharon enjoyed crocheting blankets for friends and family and especially loved making them for newborns. Everyone knew they would never go hungry at Grandma’s, as gathering for holiday meals was as an important family tradition. Sharon will be remembered for her welcoming smile and caring heart. Sharon is predeceased by her parents William and Edna and also her brother Wayne. She is survived by her husband Murray; children Ryan and Jamie (Jaida) Hauck, Riley and Ashleigh (Finleigh) Hauck and Shelby and Colin (Nolan) Rae; brother Rick; sisters, Debbie, Connie and Pat and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life sometime later when a date will be announced. Sharon always had a place in her heart for animals, in lieu of flowers, please make your donations directly to BAPS, Box 86, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B2.
