    Pickett – Ruth Jane Pickett (nee Goudie) peacefully passed away on September 3, 2007 at Bassano Hospital at the age of 88. The second of eight children, she was born on October 5, 1918 in Silver Creek, Washington to Cora Dawn and George Goudie. The Goudie family moved from Washington to Alberta in 1921, where Ruth grew up on the family farm east of Bassano and she received her education at the Burn Brae School in Countess. Ruth married Tommy K. Pickett on June 7, 1937 in the Knox Presbyterian Church in Bassano, they made their home and raised their family in Gem. Ruth taught Sunday School, belonged to Gems Ladies Club, Gem Presbyterian Womens Church Group, Pioneer Drop-in Centre and choir, Ladies Golf Club, Seniors Bowling Club, Mary Keohane Chapter OES #96. Ruth was very active in the Gem and Bassano Communities, enjoying many friendships and activities. Her family was her greatest joy and she took great pride in their accomplishments. Ruth will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by Ken (Jean) Pickett, Sharon (Teddy) Pickett, Lawrence (Marian) Pickett, Judy King, Roger (Alexis) Pickett, grandchildren Lee (Shirley) Pickett, Russel (Dorie) Pickett, Janna (Dean) Erker, Shandell (Bill McLellan) Pickett, Kristen (Brad) Niznik, Darcy (Michelle) Pickett, Lyle Pickett, Ross Pickett, Chad (Terry) Pickett, Todd (Meagan) Pickett, Jolene (Darren) Kent, Orlene (Doug) Ryan, Sonya King, Reo King, Brandi (Cory) Chalauk, Layne (Katie Schmidt) Pickett, and 20 great grandchildren. Sisters Mary Blyton, Marjorie (Lewis) Schweiger, and brother Win (Glenda) Goudie, sister-in-law Marian Goudie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband Tommy, son Allan, son-in-law Joseph King, sisters Veryl (Ed) Merithew, Helen (George) Wilson, brothers Victor (Laura) Goudie, and Don Goudie. Funeral Services were held on Friday, September 7 at 3 PM from Knox Presbyterian Church, Bassano. Rev Peter Baek officiatied. Honorary Pallbearers were all her many friends. Active Pallbearer were Lee Pickett, Russel Pickett, Darcy Pickett, Lyle Pickett, Layne Pickett, and Reo King. Family graveside services followed at Bassano Cemetery.
