Barg – It is with deep sadness and much love, we share the passing of Frederick (Fred) John Barg on June 6, 2022, after a brave battle with cancer.  Fred was born in Rosemary, AB. on February 23, 1943.  He was raised on the family farm between Brooks and Duchess, attending Clancy School and finishing his schooling in Duchess.  Fred moved on to teacher’s college in Ontario.  After courting and marrying Eileen Buschert in 1964, they returned to Ontario for Fred to start his teaching career, only to return back home in 1967 to farm with his brothers Werner and Paul.  As years passed and family grew, Fred was able to include all three of his sons and Eileen in their farming operation.  Fred was involved in the farm with Doug, until his passing.  After Eileen’s death in 2012, he reconnected with Loraine Porter and spent many years travelling and exploring until her passing.  Fred was a member of the Duchess Mennonite Church for many years including leadership roles.  He was a Director on the EID Board, as well as a member of the Alberta Soft Wheat Growers Association.  He was a leading edge farmer having one of the first electric pivots in the area.  Fred took great pride in making good quality green hay, having high yielding clean grain crops, an extremely organized and clean shop, and he loved to read.  Fred was such a kind and caring man and had a big heart for others.  He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and marveled at their uniqueness and accomplishments.  Fred was predeceased by his wife Eileen; son Daryl; brothers Benno and Phil; companion Loraine; granddaughter Kyla and great granddaughter Maaike.  He is survived by his sons, Doug (Marla) and Rod (Stephanie); grandchildren, Laci (Bruce), Billy, Skye, Suni, Lisa, Justin and Nathan; great grandchildren, Josie and Ronan; Loraine’s family, Nik, David and Sarah; siblings, Werner (Demaris), Else, Dorothy (Harold), Paul (Ada) and Mary (Dave).
