Romans – Raymond Romans passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25th, 2022 at the Brooks Health Centre. Ray was born in Winnipeg on May 29th, 1936 and eventually moved to Edmonton, where he met the love of his life, Christina Aitken. In 1953, Chris and Ray were married in Edmonton, where Ray worked in an auto-body repair shop followed by years of construction, long-haul semi-truck driving, and finally Canadian Auto Carriers. In that time, he and Chris were blessed with their 3 children, Lorna, Randy and Don. The family then moved to Brooks in 1973, where they operated the Sunburst Drive-In and the Downtown Theatre, from which many people know Ray for his stellar customer service. Ray missed working in construction, so in ‘76 he bought his first of many Bobcats, which he continued to operate until his final days. Ray will be missed by many for his great sense of humour and his good (and often bad) jokes, his incredible work ethic, and his ability to tell stories and share memories. He was predeceased by his wife (Chris), son (Randy), son-in-law (Gordon), and daughter-in-law (Janice). Those left to mourn include Lorna and Don; his daughter-in-law, Cindy; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, and his siblings, Wayne (Frieda) and Vicki of Edmonton. Ray also had many special friends who visited him at home and in the hospital, who will miss him dearly and who the family would like to thank for keeping him company. His family would also like to thank all his doctors and nurses for their excellent care and for making his final days comfortable and enjoyable. There will be no service at this time and a Celebration of Life may be considered at a later date.
