Ridgedale – Dr. John (Jack) Francis – April 12, 1916 – February 21, 2006. Jack died peacefully and with dignity at the Brooks, AB Hospital with his family by his side. Jack was born in Bow Island, AB at the Myrtle Hotel, which was owned and operated by his parents. Jack was predeceased by his wife Pauline of 60 years; his parents George Francis and Martha May; three sisters and his brother. He is survived by one sister, his son John (Jack) (Norma), daughter Lenora (Alex), seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He served his country well in the Second World War (R.C.A.M.C) Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps on the Battlefields of Europe. He came home to Canada after the war to help Pauline raise their children, continue his Podiatry practice and in time, see his family marry, have children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack and Pauline enjoyed retirement, traveling, camping, fishing and painting. Dad was a wonderful gardener and loved the outdoors, as did mom. He will be sadly missed by us all. We know he is at peace and with the love of his life. Rest well Dad and God Bless. Donations in Jack’s name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (2nd Floor, 215-12 Ave. SE, Calgary, AB T2G 1A2). A Memorial Service will be held in April, with a private family interment.
