Rogers – It is with profound sadness that the family of Norman Rogers announces his passing at home in Brooks on Tuesday October 16th. He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-three years, Joan (nee Montgomery); his three children, Kimberley Schmidt (Murray), Christine Nolan (Pat) and Paul Rogers; Eight grandchildren; Hayley, Max, Kelsey, Morgan, Brianna, Daniel, Stephanie and Brandon; His Mother, Charlotte Rogers and Brother, Mel Rogers (Isabelle) of Winnipeg, Mother in law, Hilda Pastuck (Russ); and sister in law, Maureen Janzen (Eric). He was predeceased by his father Howard Rogers and father in law Maurie Montgomery. He will also be missed by his many friends including Dr. Mari-Lynn Thomson and furry companion, Murphy. Norm was born on Feb 27, 1942 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and attended school at General Byng and Vincent Massey. In 1960 he joined the Royal Bank of Canada and a very successful career took him from Winnipeg to Flin Flon Manitoba, Edmonton and Brooks where he retired in 1998 as Branch Manager after 35 years in the banking industry. Much of his youth was spent on the baseball diamond as a pitcher. He helped lead his team to victory at the Canadian Pony League championship in 1957. An avid curler in Winnipeg and Edmonton, his true passion of golf emerged in Brooks. He was a regular fixture at the Brooks Golf Club where he played several times a week, spent many hours maintaining the course, and served numerous terms on the executive as Treasurer and President. Norm enjoyed fine wine and a good scotch and was generous in sharing these with his many close friends. Norm fought a courageous ten year battle with Lymphoma. He faced his illness with humor, bravery and determination and inspired these qualities in others. We are grateful to have cared for Norm at home in the final days of his life where he passed away in the company of his family. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. A Celebration of Norm’s life took place at 11:00 AM on Saturday October 20th from Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev.
