LELOND – Jack Lelond, of Duchess, husband of the late Yvonne (Vaage) Lelond passed away in the Strathmore Hospital on December 26, 2021 at the age of 81 years. Jack was born in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on September 24, 1940. He was predeceased by his wife Yvonne and son Lance Lelond. Jack is survived by his loving son Warren, grandson’s Brent and Brock, and step-sister Agnes Kunkel. In 1946, Jack along with his parents Herb and Margaret moved to Cassils, Alberta. A small hamlet near Brooks. During this time Jack and Yvonne were married and Jack pursued his career as an auto body mechanic. Around the year 1969 Jack and Yvonne, along with their children, Lance and Warren, moved to Yvonne’s family farm near Champion, the Vaages. The family would live and work on the farm until 1982. Jack and Yvonne returned to Brooks and Jack would once again pursue his auto body career at Martin Chrysler until he retired. During retirement Jack and Yvonne spent many winters in Arizona enjoying the warm weather and all their snowbird friends. Jack also loved hunting, fishing and touring on motorcycles with his cousin KO Brodie, Jim Henry, Dale and Marion Shantz and many other friends. Jack will be missed by his family, extended family and all his friends. A family service was held on January 6, 2022 at 1:00pm at Thoms Funeral Home in Duchess, Alberta. Graveside Services followed at Duchess Cemetery with Rev. Alvin Penner Officiating. Unfortunately, due to covid restrictions the funeral was for invited family and friends only.
