(nee Benson). It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our wonderful wife and mother on April 24, 2005. Her passing brought to an end a spirited and courageous 10 year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Brian of Drumheller, sons Jon of Drumheller and Doug (Holly) of Hussar; parents Stan and Ella Benson (Brooks), brothers Ken (Stella), Keith (Jessie) and Mark (Colleen); sisters-in-law Shirley Butterwick (Dan), Eileen Christensen (Lyle), Donna Tustian (Mark) and brother-in-law Bob Sayer. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Treena, Kyle, Greg and Leah Benson, Joe (Laurie) and Carmen (Sam) Butterwick, Laura and Greg Tustian as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Elaine was born January 27, 1956 in Brooks, AB and was raised on the family farm near Tilley. After completing high school in Tilley, she worked in Calgary where she was introduced to Brian. After their marriage on January 15, 1977 they moved to the family farm near Hussar to farm and raise a family; moving to Drumheller in 2004. She worked as a teacher’s aide in Hussar and later worked at Flower Abby and the Whistling Kettle in Drumheller. She also enjoyed organizing and volunteering for many of the community functions. Elaine was very supportive of her family interests, especially hockey, traveling many miles and making many friends along the way. She loved to shop and always seemed to find the right card to commemorate her friends and families special days. Her accumulation of “stuff” and her ability to label every drawer and container was amazing. She was always making something to decorate the house or give away. We will all miss her generous spirit, her always-present smile and friendly voice. A Funeral Service will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hussar, AB on Thursday, April 28, 2005 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine’s memory may be made to the Drumheller Area Health Foundation, CT Scanner Fund, 351 – 9th St. NW, Drumheller, AB T0J 0Y1.
