    Helen Dorothy Christiansen
    1945 – 2021
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Our beautiful mother, grandma, great grannie, sister and friend. Mom passed away on Monday October 4, 2021 in Castor with her sister and brother-in-law by her side. Her big heart finally gave out. Helen was born October 13, 1945 to Walter and Dorothy Meyer in Leader, Saskatchewan. A beauty with massive curly hair. Helen was a very hard worker and loved every job she had. Helen married Patrick Shepherd and was blessed with their two sons, Shane and Larry. They were her whole world. Helen, along with her sister Gladys opened a Dress Shop in Brooks and name it Dorothy’s Styles after their mother and ran it for eight years. Helen later married Bob Christiansen and moved to Castor and a few years later ran the Hotel restaurant along with her sister for a year and a half under Sissy’s Country Kitchen. Helen and Bob later moved to Provost and Helen ran her brother’s restaurant, “Gus’s”, which she later owned and operated. They moved back to Castor, and she resided in their beautiful little home on the creek after Bob’s passing.
Helen’s personality and love for people attracted everyone to her, no matter where she went. She had a great sense of humor and was a great Joke and Storyteller. She loved going back to Brooks to visit her sons and family, and especially loved going to her son’s and brother’s “Shop”, that was the gathering place to visit everyone. She loved Bingo and reminiscing with family and friends.
She leaves to mourn her two son’s Shane (Kim) Shepherd and Larry (Niki) Shepherd; grandchildren: Ashley, Carly, Carson, Howie and Sophie; great grandchildren Keelyn, Brooklyn and Karter Coston: brothers Wally (sadly Wally passed away a week later), Joe (Sandra), Larry (Lorna) and Rick Meyer; sister Gladys (Leo) Wiart; and many loving nephews and nieces.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Bob; parents Walter Meyer and Dorothy Saum; stepfather Charles Saum; her little brother Randy Meyer and niece Michelle Meyer.
Another link in our family chain has broken, but Heaven rejoices with the gain of such a beautiful soul.
Due to covid restrictions we are only able to have a family service.
We thank every friend and acquaintance who made our Precious Mother’s life so joyful. God Bless you all.
