Hiebert – Annie (Rempel) Hiebert went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3rd, 2021 at the age of 92 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Elsie Quiring; her five children, Dianne Smith (Randy), Doreen Quapp (Mike), Laurence (Leona), Richard (Heather) and Lynette Dyck (Francis), fifteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and everyone in her extended family. She was predeceased by her parents Abram and Anna Rempel, her husband Dave, and four brothers, Abe, Bill, Steely and Jake.  Annie was born August 14th, 1929 on a farm in Blumenhof, Saskatchewan.  Her family moved to Countess, Alberta when she was one year old, and then to Gem, Alberta when she was fourteen. She married the love of her life, David Hiebert, on October 30th, 1949. An incredible team, they worked tirelessly to build a life for themselves and their growing family in the community of Gem. They served their local church and neighbors in many ways, farming and ranching together until Dave’s death in 1996. Annie continued farming for a few more years, then retired in Three Hills where she designed and built a lovely home. She joined the community choir, made new friends and used her cooking, baking and sewing skills to serve her neighbors, family and church. She was well known for her hospitality and love of family, music, gardening and games.  She adored her kids and their families and they were always welcomed with open arms and the scent of freshly baked pies and buns. Poor health brought Annie to a seniors’ facility in the Calgary area in 2012. There she continued to go for long walks, helped wheelchair-bound residents move into the dining room, and put together many puzzles. Annie will be remembered for her deep faith in Jesus Christ. She gave her heart to Him as a young teenager and later wrote “the Lord has never left me; He has been so good”. She was a wonderful example as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Everyone who knew her was blessed by her love and servant heart. A Private Service will be held from Gem Mennonite Brethren Church. Rev. Les Rediger officiating. Interment to follow at Gem Cemetery. In memory of Annie, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to either Mennonite Central Committee, Suite 210, 2946 – 32nd Street NE, Calgary, Alberta   T1A 4H6 or Camp Evergreen, Box 492, Sundre, Alberta   T0M 1X0.
