Our dear mom and grandmother, Elsie Seitz of Brooks, has gone to be with her Lord and Savior after fighting a courageous battle with ALS, on February 11th, 2009 at the age of 80 years. Born in Jalanskajay, UFA, Russia on September 30th, 1928 Elsie immigrated to Canada on February 18th, 1929 living in Glidden, Saskatchewan for four years before moving to Duchess. She received her education at West Duchess School. Elsie married Earl Seitz on November 12th, 1949 at Rosemary Mennonite Church and resided in Millicent. They farmed in the Millicent district for 20 years and Elsie also drove school bus during this time. She enjoyed music, reading, gardening, baking, sports, knitting and needle work. Elsie was a member of W.M.C. of the Evangelical Free Church, Millicent Thursday Club and Senior Outreach. She will be best remembered for her faith in God, homemade buns, borscht and for her love for family and friends. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Earl on May 10th, 1997, son Dwaine on July 24th, 1972, parents Peter and Margaret Wiebe, 4 sisters Agnes, Elizabeth, Olga and Margaret, 4 brothers Peter, John, Jake and Edward. She is survived by her loving family, children Daryl (Heather) Seitz, Barb (Garry deceased) Clark, Neil Seitz and friend Pauline; grandchildren Robyn, Brad, Dustin, Candice, Krystal, Nicole, Deanna; great grandchildren Brady, Emma-Lee, Jorga and Shawnee. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21st at 2:00 PM from Brooks Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Garth Everett officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be the W.M.C. Ladies of the Evangelical Free Church. Active Pallbearers will be Brad Simpson, Dustin Clark, Tim Neufeld, Craig Wiebe, Brian Seitz and Mike Seitz.
