* Brooks Bulletin, April 11, 1918…
M. M. Downey, pool room inspector, was in town last Friday. He stepped into the pool room just when Bill Service “sewered” after fluking the 15 ball. The result was a charge of swearing against Bill. He admitted he had said “darn the luck” and was fined $1.
Bert Mills, the proprietor, was charged with not having had the license transferred to himself and with allowing swearing was fined $10 and costs.
Mr. Downey says pool rooms in Alberta will have to be run decently or they’ll be closed, so for the love of Mike, cut out the cuss words fellers.
