Brooks Bulletin

Brooks Asphalt and Aggregate won the city’s contract to rehabilitate the old landfill east of Brooks along Highway 873.
The cost of the contract is $1,027,500 not including GST. The city will fund $16,500 from its Garbage Collection and Recycling Reserve.
While the city is responsible for 60 per cent of the costs or $616,500, the county is responsible for $600,000.
In 2017 as assessment was completed on the old landfill and it was found there are numerous locations that have settled and are in need of additional cover and grading.
At city council on Monday, Joe Thomas, the manager of planning and engineering services presented his report stating there were eight contractors interested in the project but only Brooks Asphalt submitted a tender.
