Students compete in Medicine Hat, Lethbridge for mega badminton events


Christ The King Academy Grade 7 students CJ Jalandoni and Princess Morales with the gold medals they earned in the mixed doubles category at the annual Colts-Dawgs Mega Badminton Tournament in Medicine Hat on the weekend. Also from CTK Academy, Audina Flores earned a silver in single girls singles and Kellan DeGuzman and Angelika Boongaling earned a bronze in mixed doubles.
Eighteen Grade 8 students from Brooks Junior High School attended the event with five returning home with medals including Wyatt Davis who earned a gold for single boys, Waylon Becker and Campbell Aleman won silver in double boys and Jessica Philpott and Zach Hauck won silver in the mixed doubles category.
From Rosemary School Grade 9s Nicholas Miller earned gold in Grade 9 boys singles and Abbie Wiebe earned third in girls singles.
High school students from Rosemary School also brought home medals from their event at the Chinook-St. Mary’s badminton tournament in Lethbridge.
Brandon Kasdorf and Abe Loewen earned first in intermediate doubles. Loewen and Maddy Douglas took second in intermediate mixed doubles and Douglas and Jadyn Giroux took third in intermediate girls doubles. Kasdorf also earned gold in intermediate boys singles.
