Brooks Composite High School will be represented by 30 students April 24 at the Medicine Hat Skills Regional Competition. The Skills Canada Competitions are Olympic-style events which showcase students’ technical and leadership skills. The gold medal winners at the regional competition will advance to the provincial competition held in Edmonton on May 31 and June 1. The provincial competition gold winners will represent the province as members of “Team Alberta”, advancing to the national competition in Edmonton from June 4-6. BCHS students taking part in regional junior and intermediate hairstyling are Ililli Bakri, Zia Castillano, Maia Hewlett, Jaylin Bremner, Alicia Kishayinew, He Wang, Wenah Aurelio and Mariah Buendia Gutierrez. Nick Skanderup, Keenen Warnock, Tytus Butkiewicz, Brenden Ryan, Nure Amednur and Jorden Peltzer will compete in automotive technology. Kaitlyn Paskowski, Simon Deka, Mackayla Fitzpatrick, Hillary Greene and Nancy Unger will compete in baking. Ashley Thakurdeen, Jordyn Skrove, Cheyenne Clow and Jessica Van Ryckeghem will compete in culinary arts. Hunter Yagos-Hofstetter and Logan Warnock will compete in construction and Sawyer Wiebe, Devon Bolt, Destany Patterson, Carter Janssen and Lacey Warnock will compete in cabinetry. | BRUCE PARKER PHOTO
