The Alberta Association of Municipal District and Counties (AAMDC) has a new name.
The name was changed last month during the spring convention to Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA).
“Last year the AAMDC did a survey and one of the items asked was if the association should consider a name change,” said Division 8 county councillor Brian de Jong.
“It was rated high on the list. They didn’t want to introduce it last fall after the election so it was presented last week.”
RMA states on their website the decision was made to ensure they have an identity that resonates with members and partners.
“Our renewed brand makes it easier for people to comprehend who we are and what we represent.”
