No public decision yet by SDAB on solar farm hearing
SANDRA M STANWAY
Brooks Bulletin
The county sitting as the Municipal Planning Commission was told on Thursday the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB) has made its decision regarding the solar farm in Cassils but it has not been made public.
On Nov. 2 the SDAB held a four hour hearing and deliberated for three hours. Although a decision has been made it is not yet public and likely will not be until Friday.
The board is deciding if the commission’s development permit for Solar Krafte’s 22.5 megawatt solar farm should be upheld or denied.
County planner Diane Horvath told county council last week the SDAB heard a lot of emotional and irrelevant information about the pros and cons of solar for the province and the country as a whole versus site specific to this development.
The decision is to be announced on Friday.
