County distributes more regional dollars
During last year’s budget discussions county council agreed it is important to continue sharing funds with surrounding communities. In previous years the county issued cheques to each municipality to do what they wanted with the funds. This year the county wants cost sharing from municipal coffers for capital projects prior to distributing the funds. At the end of September council approved $56,967 for upgrades and a new playground at Rosemary’s recreation complex.

Brooks Bandits inch closer to second place
Brooks Bandits have picked up nine of a possible 10 points in their last five AJHL games.  The Bandits trailed for 58.50 of regulation time but battled back to tie and defeat the Grande Prairie Storm in overtime on a Nic Hamre (Ottawa, ON) breakaway goal Saturday night at the Centennial Regional Arena.  The win was the Bandits fourth in a row and first in overtime after having notched two shootout wins earlier in the year.

Assistant superintendent loves family atmosphere at Grasslands
Sean Beaton finds himself in a new position after 20 years working in education. Beaton was named as one of two new assistant superintendents prior to the start of the school year. A progressive career in terms of leadership is something he thought about over the years. One of the things he has heard over the years is senior administrators must not like being in the classroom.
