Thieves target golf course
On Tuesday morning Brooks RCMP and a member of the forensic unit were investigating break and enters to storage units at the Brooks Golf Club. Early in the investigation Cpl. Walter Goliath said over 40 sheds were broken into and numerous golf clubs were taken out of each unit. By 10:30 a.m. that number had climbed to 50 units broken into out of the 70 installed units. Golfers Mike and Annette Johnson were the first on scene at about 7 a.m. Mike said he knew something was wrong when he saw a pile of golf balls.

Tilley brothers are excited about new CIS season
Brothers with the same passion for football, playing the same position with different teams are looking forward to the coming season. Tilley’s Andrew and Stephen Fabian both hope to be productive as kickers in the approaching Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS)football season. Andrew is entering his second and final season with the Rams but this will be his seventh year of football at the post-secondary level.

Millicent’s Fletcher family grabs top rural beautification prize
Fifty-two county residents climbed on board a Grasslands School Bus last Monday morning to take in the County of Newell’s annual Rural Beautification Tour. The guests gathered at the county’s administration building early in the morning with their first stop in Rolling Hills at the home of Carla and Jaap deJager. “Their home is very manicured,” said Division 5 councillor Tracy Fyfe who judged this year’s properties with county summer student Mackenzie Krause.
