Dialysis fundraiser raises over $10,000
Brooks Health Foundation continues to move closer to making dialysis a reality in the city. Brooks Industrial Metals Ltd. president John Duenk last Tuesday presented $10,967.55 to the Foundation. The money was raised during an open house on Sept. 17 to mark the 50th anniversary of the business. Brooks Industrial Metals Ltd. donated $5,000, $2,877.55 was raised by employees donating their wages for the day, $2,530 came from sales of burgers and hats and $550 from direct donations to “Let’s Make Dialysis a Reality in Brooks.”

Crusaders win battle of undefeated teams
An Alberta Six Man Football League game between the St. Joseph’s Crusaders and Rimbey Spartans last Tuesday lived up to expectations. Every week there are 65 high school football games throughout the province. Football Alberta always picks one game as the feature “Game Of The Week.” For the first time ever, Football Alberta selected this six man football game as the game of the week.

Growth continues in Commemorative Forest
Brooks Communities in Bloom honoured Canada Tree Day last Wednesday by unveiling the second plaque of Tree Honourees and the new grove at the Commemorative Forest along the west shore of Lake Stafford Park. The fifth section of trees, Sandpiper Grove, is named after the shoreline birds that are seen in the area in the spring.
