B&E at golf club
Thieves hit the Brooks Golf Club sometime in the early morning hours Wednesday, gaining entry by breaking a lower level window and making off with a small safe. RCMP Staff Sergeant Tom McNulty said the safe contained an undisclosed amount of cash. It was later recovered in the Tilley area. Lethbridge RCMP identification members were called to the clubhouse to assist with the investigation, said McNulty. He said there are no suspects at this time.

Buffalos top team at home event
The Brooks Composite High school senior boys volleyball team has started and is in full swing. Last weekend the boys travelled to Camrose to partake in their annual starter tourney. With only one official practice they played well and came fourth in their pool. They then advanced to the consolation side of the draw and met up against Strathmore . In a title played match the boys were edged out in three games 25-17, 22-25, 15 -13. Head coach Wendell Nelson said the team played with intensity and desire and he was impressed with their efforts.

BIM celebrates 50 years serving Brooks and area
Brooks Industrial Metals Ltd. will mark 50 years in business on Oct. 20 but a pre-anniversary open house was held Saturday to thank Brooks and area residents and staff for years of support. “You can’t run a business without having great staff and we definitely have great staff,” said owner John Duenk. The business has a couple of employees who have been with them for 35 years and eight employees with over 20 years. In all, BIM employees have 455 years of combined years of service. He considers the staff a big family where people enjoy coming to work every day.
