Cassils residents not giving up solar farm fight
Last Tuesday about 50 residents, most of them angry, repeatedly told representatives of the Solar Krafte Cassils solar project to move their $35 million project to another section of land and add power lines to reach the grid. Solar Krafte hosted their second open house for a proposed 22.5 megawatt facility power plant on 160 acres of leased private land. It is one of about eight Solar Krafte projects under the Prairie Sunlight banner. The company will also propose a much larger project on 2,800 acres of land that will include over four million panels. Those discussions and land negotiations are in the early stages.

Calgary Mustangs skate to big win over Bandits
It was a tough night for the Brooks Bandits last Tuesday in Calgary as the team opened the month of October with a road loss, snapping their two game win streak. The Mustangs got their revenge on the Bandits, scoring two powerplay goals 44 seconds apart in the first period and not looking back as they skated to a 4-1 win on Tuesday night at Father David Bauer Arena.

Sage Brush Arts Club member uses painting as a way to relax
Bassano native Linda LaRochelle-Wilson developed a love of art at age six and today continues to pursue her passion. Some of her work was on display at the Brooks Campus of the Medicine Hat College Sept. 30 during a Sage Brush Arts show and sale. It was one of many events held to mark Alberta Culture Days (Sept. 29-Oct.1).
