Tumultuous year at SPEC
A report of an interesting fiscal year at the SPEC Association for Children and Families was presented to attendees at the annual general meeting. Trickle down affects of federal government cuts resulted in staff terminations and user fee increases on the one hand while on the other the association received an impressive four year accreditation which illustrates their success.

Crusaders connect for lopsided win
Heritage Christian players never quit but in the end, they were no match for the St. Joseph’s Crusaders six man football team. The Crusaders dominated from the outset en route to a 82-24 Alberta Six Man Football League victory last Tuesday evening.

Friends, family remember loved ones during Commemorative Forest event
This year 29 trees were added to the Brooks Commemorative Forest in honour of significant events in people’s lives. City of Brooks parks staff planted five Clump Paper Birch, five Mayday, five Dropmore Lindens, five Siberian Larch and five Green Ash that were part of last year’s program.
