Residents want tree removed
City officials are pondering the removal of a healthy cottonwood tree. In a vote of 5-2 city councillors, during their committee meeting, agreed to pay for the removal of a cottonwood tree at 64 Fairview Avenue as requested by area residents. Voting against the motion were councillors Dan Klein and Norm Gerestein.

Change of command for 239 Air Cadets
A new commander is at the helm of the Brooks Royal Canadian Air Cadets, squadron 239. Second Lieutenant Terry Grandy assumed the position last Tuesday during a change of command ceremony with Cpt. Ann Herman. Herman will officially retire when she turns 65 in September after 25 years of service. Major Robert Craddock served as the presiding officer for the change in command.

Bombers earn split with Giants
Brooks Bombers had a busy week of Western Major Baseball League action that had them picking up their second win of the season. The Bombers hosted the Fort McMurray Giants for games Thursday and Friday evening and came away with a split. Play last Tuesday in Medicine Hat had the Bombers dropping a 9-6 decision to the host Medicine Hat Mavericks.
