Stump stops high speed chase
A Brooks man and a Medicine Hat woman were charged after their out-of -control vehicle collided with a tree stump in a yard next to the Brooks United Church on 3rd Avenue West. Just after midnight on Oct. 20 a Brooks RCMP detachment member attempted to stop a motor vehicle that was suspected in connection with a rash of break and enters. The suspect vehicle was fleeing from police at a high rate of speed through a residential area when the driver lost control and slammed into the tree stump located in the yard.

Buffalos give all but just fall short
Brooks Composite High Romer Buffalos will meet the Crescent Heights Vikings in Medicine Hat Friday to determine third place in the Rangeland Football Conference. The Buffalos were relegated to the third place game after dropping a 6-3 semi-final game Friday evening to the Medicine Hat High Mohawks. Head coach Jon Velasco said it was a good game even though they did not come out on top. Cesar Montesinos kicked one field goal and missed on another in the first quarter when the ball bounced off the goal post.

Bullfighter says job is a dream come true
Levi Hale knows a thing or two about bullfighting and anything he doesn’t know can be picked up from his father Jason. Levi is a third generation bullfighter. Both his dad Jason and his grandfather, Wayne, were professional bullfighters that worked the Calgary Stampede. Levi would like to add his name to the list as well as working at the Canadian Finals Rodeo. He believes a CFR appearance in the next five years is possible now that he has a full card to work.
