The Brooks Music Festival Association is kicking off their 25th anniversary year with the annual Fall Into Music concert on Oct. 18.
The annual concert welcomes everyone to a night of music at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation.
This year’s event will include alumni festival participants along with new and upcoming talent. The board is encouraging all past board members and participants to attend the evening.
The Brooks Music Festival Association was developed by Dorothy Weinmeyer, Lana Penner and Diane Hirsekorn in 1994. The first festival was a three-day event and included piano, string, band and voice. A year later the board increased to 12 members plus auxiliary members and it has continued to have strong boards and wonderful volunteers coming forward to make the festivals a great success.
Over the years the association has continued to support and have a tremendous impact on local musicians and orators as evidenced by the several Brooks Music Festival participants who have advanced to provincial and national festivals.
The local festival is noted for its excellence in providing adjudication that emphasizes on teaching. Time and expertise are provided so the participants have a fulfilling and positive experience which allows them to perform to the best of their ability.
The 2019 Brooks Music Festival will be held March 31 to April 5, 2019 with registration on Jan. 25 and 26.
