    Zibell – Elizabeth (Betty) Jeannette (nee Carlson) of Bassano, beloved wife of Bill Zibell, passed away peacefully in Bassano on Sunday, August 4th, 2013 at the age of 71 years. Betty was born September 4th, 1941 in Medicine Hat to Myer and Hazel Carlson. Betty grew up in Alderson, AB., until which time they relocated to Brooks. Betty attended and graduated from Brooks High School and then married her one and only sweetheart Bill on January 7th, 1961. She held many jobs throughout her life starting at the Royal Bank in Brooks, Betty and Bill relocated to Calgary, at which time she worked for the Alberta Wheat Pool. After returning to Brooks she worked for the Horticultural Research Center for 15 years. Bill and Betty relocated to Bassano in 1975 to continue operating WAZibell Trucking, for the next 49 years. She was involved in many community organizations starting with the Bassano Library Board. Betty was a town councillor for 7 years, she was also a founding member of the recycling program, later to become the treasurer of BARRA for 15 years. Betty’s family meant everything to her and she loved her community, her love of music and her adventure seeking nature to travel were some of her favourite things. She was predeceased by her parents Myer and Hazel and also her brother Richard. Betty is survived by her loving husband Bill of 52 years; son Bill Jr. (Dallas) and son Brad (Shelley); granddaughters Kayla and Hailey; 2 great grandsons and sister Edna (Bruce) Moffet. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 22nd at 2:00 PM from Knox Presbyterian Church in Bassano. Rev. Ken Wells officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
