    ZEER – Joy Eleanor Zeer of Wardlow, beloved wife of the late Ike Zeer passed away at Brooks Health Centre on February 14, 2018 at the age of 86. Joy was born in Edson and relocated wherever the oil patch took them. She had fond memories of spending time in Blackfalds, Turner Valley, Millarville and Lacombe. Joy received her high school education in Brooks and one evening while at a dance in Patricia she met her future husband Ike. After 3 years of courting they were married December 3, 1948 in Brooks. They lived on the ranch, on the north side of the Red Deer river, where she spent 69 years of her life. Joy was a master spinner and weaver. She made her own paper and felt and could spin flax into linens, silk from silk worms, Angora rabbit hair, dog hair, and wool, making many creative items over the years. Joy was a member of Brooks Handicraft Guild, Alberta Hand Weavers, Spinners and Dyers of Alberta. Joy was a sweet, caring lady who will be remembered for her love of God and family. She was predeceased by her son Louie Zeer in 1982, her mother Florence Crooker in 1984, her husband Ike Zeer in 2011, her grandson Vince Cutter in 2017, her brother Dwight Crooker and her sister Audrey Girdauckis. surviving sister Jean Whitton and sister Mary (Ross) Roberts. Joy is also survived by her children; son Ian (Corrinne) Zeer; their children Jennifer Zeer, Jaycee (Liza) Zeer and their children JB and Riley; daughter Jo-Ann (Craig) Schnell and their children Jarret and KayLea; son Lonnie (Elaine) Zeer and their children Brittany, Luan and their oldest Michelle (Gary) Hancock and their child Raelynn; daughter Heather (Chris) Cutter and their children Kyle, Steve, and Rick Smith and his children Sadie and Kylie. Numerous other family members. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 17 at 2 PM at the Heritage Inn in Brooks. Private graveside service at Brooks Cemetery.
