    Scheuerman – Della Jean Scheuerman of Brooks, beloved wife of Laverne Scheuerman, passed away in Brooks on Saturday, November 25th, 2017 at the age of 82 years. Della was born in Brooks on April 2nd, 1935 to Lee and Gladys Genge. She attended school in Bow City, Gem and Brooks. Della married Laverne Scheuerman on September 6th, 1953 in Brooks. They resided in Medicine Hat for a while but mostly lived in the Brooks area. Della was a stay at home mom while her kids were growing up and ran a day home, and worked for the Country Oven Bakery for 3 years. She loved to read, knit and crochet. Many new moms received gifts of handmade baby blankets and outfits. Della loved a good cup of coffee and spending time with friends and her door was always open for friends or family to stop by. She was a member of the Brooks Evangelical Free Church for 65 years, holding many teaching positions and leadership offices. Della was also President and Secretary of the Women’s Ministerial Service, a member of the Pioneer Girls and member of the Challengers for over 20 years. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips with Laverne to the East Coast and to Nashville, as well as a family cruise to Alaska and a Christmas trip to Mexico. Her family was very important to her and she loved “collecting” great grandchildren. Della was predeceased by her parents, Lee and Gladys, siblings, Rena, Elva, Leone and Jack and grandchildren, Patrick and Jennifer. She is survived by her loving husband Laverne; children, Colleen (Dick) van Nieuwkerk, Bernice (Rod) McDonald, Terry (Eileen) Scheuerman, Ken (Reta) Scheuerman and Michael (Rym) Scheuerman; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Betty, numerous extended family and many friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 4th at 2:00 PM from Brooks Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Garth Everett officiated. In memory of Della, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to either Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, Room 124 Professional Building, 430 – 6th Avenue SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 2S8 or Canadian Diabetes Association, #204, 2323 – 32nd Avenue NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 6Z3.
