    Johnson – Lawrence Carl Johnson of Scandia, beloved husband of Phyllis Johnson, passed away in Brooks on Wednesday, October 31st, 2018 at the age of 91 years. Lawrence was born in Scandia on October 22nd, 1927 to Oscar and Amy Johnson. He attended Jenny Lind School in Scandia and high school in Brooks. Lawrence enjoyed many years of farming and ranching and especially liked Hereford cows. He was the ultimate community man as he helped with the Church, Scandia Hall, cemetery, skating rink, 4H and the EID Historical Park. Lawrence’s strong faith was rooted in his upbringing in Salem Lutheran Church and he was a pillar of the Church for his entire life. He cherished his family and grandchildren. Lawrence’s sweet tooth is shared by all, his fudge will always be the best! He had an extremely kind and gentle nature and always made time for people and made each person feel special. Lawrence would help anyone in need and his positive spirit was exceptional and he always had something nice to say. He brightened the day for everyone. Lawrence was so patient and never, ever complained. He was a great example of how to live one’s life. Lawrence was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Amy Johnson and brother Rich. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis; children, Blaine (Holly), Warren and Marian (Luc); grandchildren, Levi, Micah, Tobin, Noralyn, Heidi, Ben, Leah and Tim; sister Naomi and “almost” brother and sister Burton Johnson and Marian Wells. He will also be missed by his Nebraska cousins with whom he had a tremendously strong lifelong connection. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9th at 1:00 PM from Salem Lutheran Church in Scandia. Rev. Jakob Pillibeit and Rev. John Theiss officiating. Luncheon to follow at Scandia Hall.
