A Life With Love is a Life That’s Been Lived

    Gwendoline Muriel (Gwen) Galarneau

    September 15, 1924 – September 23, 2018

Gwen was born in Devon, England and was raised from four years old to adulthood in a girl’s school after her mother died at a very young age.  She was very grateful for the education she received and how well she was treated at the school and her father visited every weekend.  She was a proud Brit and did her part by joining the British Land Army during WWII.  After the war, her Uncle Sim Lang, who had immigrated to Bassano asked her to come and visit.  She worked for a short time in Bassano but once she met Don, it wasn’t long before she happily made the switch from city girl to farm wife in Gem and the rest is history.

We were very fortunate to celebrate Mum’s 94th birthday on September 15th with the guest of honor able to enjoy her family, friends and her favorite birthday cake. She will be remembered with infinite love by her son David, daughters Helen (Grant) Veno, Ruth Galarneau, Sylvia Galarneau and Valerie Smith (Bill Miller).  Grandchildren Tonya (Cory), Brandon (Sarah), Matthew, Danielle, Kyla (Cam). Great-grandchildren Taylor, Aiden, Mercedes, Margaret, Bodie and Bennett, sister Barbara Shute in England and honorary great grandchildren, Mitchell, Kaity and Lucas, as wells as numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends.  She was predeceased by her soul mate of over 60 years, Don Galarneau and son, Neil Galarneau, her parents, Henry & Edith Stone, brothers William and Ernie and sister Beryl. Sadly, the status of Gwen’s sister Freda is unknown.

The family would like to invite all friends and family to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 6th, 2018
