Erion – Victor Erion of Brooks, beloved husband of Violet Erion, passed away surrounded by his family at the Brooks Health Centre on Monday, April 30th, 2018, at the age of 86 years. Victor was born on December 24th, 1931, in Scapa, Alberta, to Emmanuel and Maria (Pahl) Erion. He was the true middle child, being the eighth child in a family of 15 children. Victor was working as a farmhand at the Graumann farm, before marrying Violet Graumann on October 30th, 1956. They moved to Calgary in 1959 and started their family. Victor worked various jobs in Calgary while taking courses at Devry Institute. In 1975, they moved their five city girls to the town of Brooks, where they built a house west of town, where they lived until 2014. Victor was employed at the Brooks Hospital in the maintenance department until his retirement in 1991, although retirement did not slow him down. He spent many hours at the acreage working with his cows, tinkering with his tractors and helping Violet with the yard and garden. Summers were spent farming with family members and he was also involved with the construction of the new Brooks Evangelical Free Church. Victor was a humble man of few words but incredible wit. He was a “MacGyver” and was always inventing something “to make the job easier”. Victor loved God, his wife, his family, and his church. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Violet; his daughters Cathy (Stewart) Larsen, Cheryle (Cal) Olive, Dianne (Dave) Crockett, Debbie (Rob) Sawyer, and Heather (David) Clyne; eight grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Samantha, Katie, Becky, Alison, Grant, and Hayley; four great grandchildren; siblings, Emma Flaig, Walter (Diane) Erion, Leo (Shirley) Erion, and Ernest (Joanne) Erion. A private graveside service was held on May 2nd , 2018 from Brooks Cemetery. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 26th at 2:00 PM from Brooks Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Garth Everett officiating. In memory of Victor, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to either Southern Alberta Bible Camp, Box 99, Lomond, Alberta T0L 1G0 or Brooks and District Health Foundation, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B3.
