    It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Douglas(Gail),Gayl (Edward) and Randy(Marilyn), grandchildren Laura(Greg), David (Lila), Curtis(Bobbie Jo), Wayne (Nicole), Robyn, Nathan(Julie) and Nadine(Chris). Eight great-grandchildren, Chrystyna, Ashley, Gordon, Angelica, Emily, Harley, Erica and Savannah, Dorothy is also survived by her brothers Gerald (Wilma) Mooney and Lyle (Anne) Mooney. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1978, parents John and Alenna (Maude) Mooney in the 1950s,sister Gwendolyn in 1927 and grandson Gary in 1998.
    Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Mom was raised on the Mooney Ranch west of Wardlow. Mom received her schooling at Cessford, Nateby (west of Cessford), Creole Belle (west of Wardlow), D’Arcy, Sask., and Western Canada High School in Calgary. Upon completion of her education, Mom entered the Medicine Hat School of Nursing, graduating in 1935 and nursed in Calgary and Vancouver. On February 24, 1937, Dorothy married Gordon Anderson in Bellingham, Washington and they returned to the Sunnynook district where they farmed and ranched until their passing. Mom never missed a branding or roundup, always helped at calving time and other farm/ranch tasks. Mom traveled extensively through the United States, Europe, the South Pacific and the Arctic. She led an active life in the community including membership in the United Church in Sunnynook, the Western Stockgrowers Association, the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Alumnae Association and was a long time member of the Women of Unifarm.
    Dorothy’s family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Mom’s exceptional caregivers at Brooks Extended Care. We have no words to describe our depth of appreciation for your compassionate and dignified care of our Mother – you are truly angels!
    Funeral services will be held at First United Church, Hanna, Alberta on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.
    In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
