Anderson – Donald Wesley Anderson of Brooks, surrounded by family and only two minutes before his birthday, passed away at the Medicine Hat Hospital – where he was born nearly 78 years ago.  Don was the third son of Leah (McLean) and Nels Anderson and spent much of his early life in Tilley.  After marrying Judy (McGowen) and having two children, the Anderson family moved to Coronation in 1968.  Don and family lived there for a number of years until a work transfer landed the Anderson’s in Brooks about 1983.  Most of his working years were spent with Bow River Pipeline.  Don retired from Koch Industries in 1995.  He wore many hats throughout the years, member of town council, the Elks and fire department; supervisor, hockey coach, and most importantly the role of Chef in Judy’s kitchen!  Socializing, little projects around the house, reading and cooking occupied Don’s “retirement” until the grandkids came along in 1998 and 2000.  That’s when life got really interesting…four grandkids in two years!  Don is survived by his loving wife Judy; daughter, Roxann Anderson (Kevin Stephenson); daughter-in-law Michelle (Kevin Pitchell); grandchildren, Tiana Don Madison Stephenson, Jace Lachlan Arthur Stephenson, Ashley Grace Pitchell, and Zoey Rose Pitchell; siblings, Ian, Peter (Betty), Leigh (Linda), Robin (Pat), and Connie (Rick Swanson); nieces and nephews – Todd, Margo, Ian, Leah, Neil, Rob, and Kris.  Don was predeceased by his parents Leah and Nels Anderson and his son Donald Lachlan Anderson.  As per Don’s wishes, cremation will take place followed by a graveside service and luncheon.  Please refer to Smith Funeral home website for updated information.  If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Brooks Health Foundation for Kidney Dialysis, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta   T1R 1B3. The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors, and other staff in the ICU at Medicine Hat Hospital, Brooks Health Centre and Ambulance Service Personnel; Kidney Clinic staff; staff at Centennial Health, Dr. Muller, and friends/neighbours for EVERYTHING they have done to assist Don and his family this past while.

Cremation is entrusted to Smith Funeral Home Ltd. and Crematorium, Brooks.
